DARTMOUTH YACHT CLUB (DYC) & THE CONVOY CUP FOUNDATION
HONOURING THOSE WHO SERVED
HISTORIC CONVOY RE-ENACTMENT AND SAIL PAST
To honour the veterans of WWII, a re-enactment of a convoy leaving BedfordBasinwill take place.Vessels taking part in the re-enactment will marshal in the Bedford Basin and proceed to the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic for a sail past of HMCS SACKVILLE, where veterans and family members will be on board to observe.
The re-enactment is open to all Power/Sail Boats which are a minimum boat length of 16 feet.
Each boat will represent a vessel that participated in the Convoys and will carry a Convoy Cup Foundation supplied banner (1.5 feet x 8 feet) bearing the name of a lost vessel and its country’s flag. The banner must be attached to the starboard rail or superstructure of each participating vessel so it will be visible to those on the Sackville. The country flag provided can be flown mid-ship or on the stern of the participating vessel.
All participating boats will be given a souvenir Convoy Cup flag and Bulkhead Plaque.
There is no fee to participate in this event although a donation to cover the costs of flags and bulkhead plaques is appreciated.
